No, I’m not on fire

But it sure does stink!  I’m sure most of you have heard there are a few fires out here in Los Angeles.  I live in Burbank and the fires are north of me in Sylmar and south of me in Yorba Linda.  Both fires are about 25 - 30 miles away, so there is a lot more concrete to get through before I’m in danger.  Map of the fires.  I can not see the fire from my house, but I sure can smell it!  Around 4 p.m. today it got pretty bad and has stayed that way on into the night.  Unfortunate for the firefighters we are under wind advisories and are expecting record setting hight temperatures this weekend.  Apparently these fires are the worst fires LA has seen since 1961.  As of right now the Sylmar fire alone has burned over 8,000 acres.
I am supposed to be running a half marathon tomorrow in Pasadena with a bunch of my friends.  We are now on hold because they will not make a decision about air quality and cancellation until 4 a.m. tomorrow morning.  I guess we will just wait and see!  It will be very disappointing not to run after all the training we’ve put in, but if it’s bad I don’t want to run either.

On a lighter note, I had a great birthday on Thursday and wanted to say thank you for all the well wishes.  Kari, Kirsten and I went to flying trapeze class in the afternoon.  Kirstena and I learned a new trick while Kari seem to have a lot of fun learning the basics.  See the video of my new trick here.  After class we booked it back to the valley to have dinner with some more friends.  It was a lot of fun.  Great friends and food! What more could a girl ask for on her birthday?  Even had a raised a glass with Mrs. Ochmonek!  Thanks again to everyone!

Goodbye 20’s!

Hello new age bracket!  It’s hard to believe that tomorrow is my 30th birthday.  Wherever did the time go?  I thought I just graduated college last year. hmmm…  But I am looking forward to the next few days as they will be busy and hopefully fun filled!  One of my college roommates, Kari Kelly, is flying in tomorrow for a long weekend.  We are going to take trapeze lessons in the early afternoon and then meet up with a few friends for dinner.  Friday we are going to go wine tasting and then on Sunday I am running my 2nd half marathon of this year.  It is the first annual Pasadena half marathon and 7 of my friends are running it with me.  I’m excited because this will be the first half marathon for 4 of them!  I am hoping to come in at a decent time, but doubt I will finish as fast as my last half because this course is MUCH hillier then the last one.  We are running around the Rose Bowl for miles 7 - 10 and that is right at the base of a mountain range.  Good news is that the last 3 miles are all downhill.  Yippee!

Kari leaves on Monday and I leave either Monday or Tuesday to fly up to San Francisco for work.  I am working with Incited Media on their live webcast of YOUTUBE LIVE.  The job does not seem like it will be too hard which would be great because I have never been to San Fran before and would love to check the town out.  Only time will tell I guess!

Since the last time I posted I have been keeping busy with hiking, dinner with friends and guitar lessons.  We also had a very fun Halloween.  My roommate and I came up with the idea to go as Rockford Peaches from the movie “A League of Their Own”.  Between Thursday night and Saturday afternoon we ended up with 2 more Peaches and a Jimmy.  The costumes turned out great.  (Hand made by my roommate Kirsten)  Check out pictures of the Halloween Party here.
