And now… the end is near…
It’s fall again (you can tell by the 96 degree weather) and that means an end to another season of BB. I am currently on the next to last night of overnights and have plenty of time on my hands. I am trying my best to catch up on my correspondence, but I seem to get distracted pretty easily.
Since last time I posted I have spent most of my time at the compound. I did try to get out whenever possible and had a lot of fun. I took more flying trapeze lessons with my roommate. Some awesome videos of that here. We have 4 more classes to go, so hopefully we will learn some more fun tricks to do.
I flew home a second time during the summer to be a bridesmaid in one of my college roommate’s wedding. The theme of the wedding was camouflage. (They really like hunting and fishing
) Unique to say the least, but one of the most fun weddings that I have been a part of. Laura looked gorgeous and Craig looked very dapper with his newly appointed “Laura’s Best Friend” award. It was a pretty quick trip, but I was happy to be able to see a lot of people on that trip. I have pictures of that wedding here, of course including the camouflage bridesmaid dress!
In late August I ran in my 2nd Disneyland Half Marathon. This year I was running it with my roommate, Kirsten and friend Becky Mair, who also ran it last year with me. We were very excited to see that the temperature on race day was going to be almost 40 degrees cooler than it was last year!! Last year at the 6 a.m. start time, before the sun was up it was already 95 degrees. At the end of the race is was 111. That’s a little warm to run 13 miles in. But we survived and came back for another year. My goal this year was to finish in 2:30. I finished in 2:30:07. DOH! On the last straight away I started running faster to try to make time and my water bottle popped out of my pack! I went back and picked it up, so in my heart I think I made the 2:30 mark. I took almost 7 minutes off my time from last year, so I am proud of that. I have only 8 weeks until the next half marathon, so I’ll see if I can improve any more on my time.
After BB I will now get some much needed down time. As of right now I will probably be going back to Hell’s Kitchen in December/January. Probably/hopefully pick up a few jobs here and there, but mostly enjoy the time I have off. I am sure I will fill it up with lots of fun stuff, since I usually am not very good at sitting around. I have already lined up guitar lessons, more trapeze lessons, doing some ice skating, and joining a book club. I’ll keep you posted on whatever other crazy things I can come up with. Take care!
