Hello again! I’ve been meaning to post for a couple of weeks now, but I have been super busy. That means an extra long blog this time! Yay for you! Let’s see… last time I left off was just before I finished up at Hell’s Kitchen and was about to start my 11 days of vacation.
The first on the agenda was a trip to Las Vegas for a friend’s wedding. I had finished work at 5 a.m. that day so I had planned on flying instead of driving the 4 hours. Seemed safer. And faster being as the flight is only 45 minutes. Or so it is supposed to be… I ended up on the same flight as 4 friends of mine from LA. We get to the airport and find out the flight is delayed 45 minutes. No problem. We can handle that. We board the plane, start to pull back from the gate and our pilot informs us that ground crew noticed we have a flat tire. How long does it take to change a tire you ask? Apparently a LONG time. After waiting for well over 4 hours we managed to get on a different flight (with fully inflated tires) to Vegas. By then we missed the meet n greet dinner that the bride and groom had arranged so I grabbed a quick dinner with my friend Matt. During dinner we decided to hit the poker room at the MGM. I had never played cards in a casino before and was a bit nervous. I did alright for myself though as I walked away from the table $257 richer! Yay me! The next day I spent some time at the pool and then grabbed lunch with some friends before getting ready for the wedding. The wedding was beautiful as was the bride. I have posted some of the pictures I took here. All in all a very good trip to Vegas. I came back, richer, more tan and well… less rested but that’s ok.
The next day my roommate and I had signed up for flying trapeze lessons. It was so much fun! At first we felt like they kind of just threw us into it without much explanation, but we caught on very quickly. I have pictures and video of it here and even better video HERE. It was so much fun that we ended up buying 6 more classes a piece! The second class, which I took a couple of days ago was just as much fun. We learned a new trick and got to be caught twice! I’m not very graceful getting into the position, but I certainly can do the splits!
The very next day I left on a 5 day sailing trip to Santa Catalina Island, 22 miles off the coast of LA. For the first 2 days it was just me and my friend “Captain” John. It was so incredibly relaxing and peaceful. The second day John and I went scuba diving off the boat in a little harbor called 4th of July Cove. It was the first time I had been diving in a while. We saw a lot of interesting creatures including a 4 foot shark, (I forget what kind, but John insisted it was a vegetarian) lots of garibaldi fish, and 2 of the largest stingrays I have ever seen. One of them had a wing span of at least 6 feet across! On the 3rd day we picked up a father/son duo that are both engineers. They were very nice and VERY smart gentlemen. The weather cooperated nicely. It was sunny and warm every day we were on the water. I got incredibly tan as well. I have a few pictures here.
After I got back from sailing I starting in on training week back at Big Brother. Season 10. Who would have thought we would make it this far? I am currently working my 3rd day, and so far it seems like it will be a good season. Check out cast info here and be sure to tune in on Sunday July 13th on CBS for our first episode!
During our rehearsal week I took a few days off and went home for my friend Melissa’s wedding. Melissa and I have been friends since the 4th grade. It was a really good time. I got to see my parents, old college roommates and other friends from high school as well. The wedding was supposed to be outside at the Rose Garden, but unfortunately it rained so the ceremony had to be moved to where the reception was being held. The good thing is that we were still able to take a lot of pictures at the Rose Garden. Check out some of my pictures of that here. Melissa was a beautiful bride and the groom, Jody was looking pretty spiffy too! Next up is another week of work at BB and then I will be traveling home again for another wedding. This time for my college roommate Laura Hood. I have a feeling this is going to be a really fun wedding. I am a bridesmaid and will be wearing a champagne colored dress with a camouflage sash! I will post details and pictures of that when I get back.
As always please drop me a line and I will try to get back to you in a timely manner, although I offer no guarantees. Also… I am writing this at 4:52 a.m. so I am sure there are A LOT of grammatical and spelling errors. Please forgive me.
