Disneyland Half Marathon
Last Monday I ran the Disneyland Half Marathon in Anaheim, California. It was a lot of fun but so unbelievably, uncomfortably, insanely HOT! The race started at 6 a.m. and it was already in the mid to high 80’s. The race started near Downtown Disney, we ran down and around the park, took a back entrance into California Adventure, across to Disneyland, ran through the park, out into Anaheim down to The Honda Center (where the Ducks play hockey), down to Anaheim Stadium where we ran into the field, down the first base line to home plate and out the 3rd base line and then finally back to the finish line at Downtown Disney. (See map here) Inside Disneyland they had all the characters out, cheering us a long. Every water stop I would pour 3 to 4 cups of water over my head to try to keep a little cooler. I don’t think it helped much. After the race when we went out to eat, and my friend’s car said that it was 115 degrees. Too dang hot to run 13.1 miles! But I survived so that is good! My goal was 2 hours and 30 minutes, and I finished in 2:36, so I was very happy with how I did. I came in 4,656th out of 15,000 runners. Although I don’t know how many people did not finish. My friends said that they saw a few people passed out on the side of the road, but I didn’t see anyone. Hopefully next year will be much cooler! See more pictures of the race here!
On the work side of things, Big Brother 8 is quickly coming to an end. Our finale is next Tuesday with Zack, Daniele, or Dick walking away with the cash prize. Unfortunately. I will be starting up at Hell’s Kitchen on Wednesday. I would LOVE to have a week off between jobs, but I am happy to be working steadily for a while. Well… my bank account is happy but I, on the other hand wish I could be out scuba diving more. I haven’t been in a very long time and am trying to schedule a dive real soon. But maybe when all of this work stuff is done I will be able to afford all my own very new gear! I’ll keep my fingers crossed!
